SUMMARY:RIBA / Northern Schools of Architecture
DESCRIPTION:The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA)\, Liverpool John Moores University and the University of Liverpool are hosting the Northern Soul (NS) this year. The NS is a grouping of ten Northern universities’ Schools of Architecture. Each take it in turns to act as host. The focus for this year’s event is Anfield Cemetery\, where approximately seventy architecture undergraduates will be addressing design issues. The issues will range from uses for the South Chapel\, the cemetery grounds and how this Grade II* heritage asset can be promoted as a major tourist destination\, within the context of the area.\nAfter visiting Anfield in the morning\, the NS will return to Liverpool to discuss\, propose and produce outcomes.\nAlthough the NS has a different agenda to our Friends’ group\, we are eagerly looking forward to the outcomes\, which could inform our recently awarded Architectural Heritage Fund ‘Project Viability Report’. \n
