Today, the Friends of Anfield have been awarded a £50,300 Resilient Heritage grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF). Made possible by money raised by National Lottery players, the project, ‘Exploring Anfield’s South Chapel’, prepares the charity for the challenges of turning Anfield Cemetery’s Grade II chapel into an International Heritage and Visitor Centre. […]
Called ‘Lifting the Lids’, a disabled friendly Heritage Trail of twelve information boards will be sited around our 141 acre site. Each will contain research carried out by local young people, who will conduct heritage walks for those interested in Anfield’s / Liverpool’s unique local, national and international history.
Our Project Viability Report was signed off and Friends have been invited, by AHF, to submit an application for their next funding stage. Friends have arranged ‘funding application training’ (from LCVS, to assist us in this process) using our HLF funding.

On Friday 13th November, Liverpool City Cabinet and Historic England agreed to contribute £300,000 for the preservation of Anfield’s huge grade 2 listed Catacombs.
